Olympic Torch Relay | Personal

What an amazing weekend we have had. This weekend in Cambridgeshire was our turn for the Olympic Torch Relay. Huntingdon was our nearest town to be a part of the celebrations. I was invited to photograph the press release and Olympic gym awards dinner that was held at Woodgreen Animal Shelter in Huntingdon Saturday night. I will blog about this later in the week.

Sunday morning we woke at 6am, not a time of the day that I am happy seeing to be honest! Dressed for the English summer; waterproofs, unbrella's and warm clothes, LOL, we got in the car and headed for  McDonalds drive thru (bluberry muffin and coffee for me) and then parked down by the Riverside.

The rain did not dampen the spirits of the occasion. Prior to the torch arriving, the Olympic sponsor trucks passed us by handing put flags and goodies for children.

Supporters lined the street waiting for the torch to pass us by. The torch then made its way to the Olympic Gym for 6 minutes for further press and tv coverage.

We walked back towards the Riverside and waiting by the next torch handover to see the kiss!
The torch bearers on this relay were F1 Boss Tony Fernandes and MTV presenter and model Laura Whitmore. Laura was so lovely with all the supporters, taking time to talk and the girls even got a photo with the torch!
