Before I left the UK back in November last year, I had planned a collaborative styled shoot; an Autumnal Bridal shoot. Very much out of my comfort zone, in general I do not photograph weddings. I wanted something a bit quirky and different for this shoot. Thanks to twitter and a tweet looking for suppliers who could help with my theme, I ended up with a pretty impressive group of individuals and businesses to help bring my vision to life!

So on a cold and rainy October morning, myself, Vivien (MUA), Sasha, Sydney, Jade (models), Ryan (second Shooter) and Emily the stylist, all gathered at The Sue Ryder hospice at Thorpe Hall in Peterborough.
My car was overflowing with cakes, biscuits, beautiful bouquets, exquisite dresses and stunning headpieces to be used on the day.

One of my photography passions is Fashion and Beauty. I am learning all the time and hope one day I will actually get paid to do a Fashion shoot.  At the moment I enjoy collaborating with other creatives bringing ideas to life.

This was a beauty shoot for Vivien Jones of Pretty Woman Makeup. I have been working with Vivien since January when she did the makeup for my Ice Queen/Black Swan shoot, we really hit it off and have become firm friends since.

Vivien was looking for high end beauty shots for her portfolio. I hired a studio I love working with , Saracen House in Milton Keynes and Vivien gave the very talented Creative Art Director for Toni and Guy, Carol Whamond a call and we had our creative team together.

I went through my contacts on Model Mayhem and came across Jess who I have been meaning to work with with and thankfully she was free.

After 4 hours Vivien and Carol had 2 very different looks achieved.

Would love to hear your comments.

I will be doing an interview with Vivien Jones shortly where you can learn more about Vivien's work and how she got into the beauty business.

Thanks for stopping by.

April has been a manic month for me. Full of interesting shoots from 16 men in the buff for the Spinal Injury Assc. charity calender to a fashion shoot for a London clothing range for GeekStar Clothing.
This is what I love about photography is the diversity in the work I do, keeps me on my creative toes!

I am really lucky that I have started to build a great creative team, this includes a very talented makeup artist Vivien Jones from Pretty Woman Make Up. We have collaborated on several projects together and we really get on so well as friends too. I feel really blessed to have found Vivien.

This weekend we had organized a shoot with London clothing company Geek Star (more to come from that shoot later!). After working all day on the Charity Calender we went location scouting for the Geek Star shoot. Vivien had already checked out a location that she wanted me to see also. O.M.G it was perfect!
Just google St Neots Graffiti wall to see what I mean. Made up of 6 huge boards, art by local graffiti artists and you have a perfect urban backdrop with attitude!

Here is the lovely Vivien being my model whilst I worked out lighting and the best areas to photograph!
Well this wall just had to be my paint chip photo for this week!

I think this would be a great colour scheme for a teenagers room, what do you think?

I have so much to share with you on the blog over the coming weeks. April has been busy!

Thanks for stopping by and do get in touch if you are a clothing company looking to update your portfolio. I would love to touch base and see how we can work together.

I am very lucky to have met the lovely and very talented Amber Tutton. She is a local model and only 18! She is so dedicated to her modelling career and such a hard worker, I love any opportunity to work with her.
I booked an hours studio hire at Saracen House with Amber. A first for me to be working in a pro studio and I totally fell in love! Andrew is fantastic and such a great help with lighting set ups. I knew what I wanted to achieve but am still not sure how to set up the lighting to get the effects I want. I had been pouring over Vogue and Tatler images as well as  my heroine Melissa Rodwick photography styles. I find fashion magazines a great resource for posing and styling my photography.

I started with some beauty shots, a one light set up with an over sized beauty dish and grid high above Amber who was sat on a stool about 2 metres from the white backdrop (hence the dark grey)
I am in love with the effect of a beauty dish, I love the soft vignetting you get. These images are pretty much SOOC, just a few tweaks nothing major.

loved capturing Amber's fun side

I then moved to a yellow background with a 3 lights set up. Again the large beauty dish with grid in the centre high above Amber and the behind Amber either side were 2 strip lights with grids. I wanted a retro feel and a colour pop as a contrast with the denim outfit Amber was wearing. I am really pleased with this image.

I am booked in again at the end of the month for 2 hours at Saracen House with Amber and I cannot wait. Hoping to pull of some gritty edgy shots this time!

Love to hear your thoughts on the above images.
I am always looking at working with new models to expand my portfolio so do get in touch if you would like to try something new.

Back in January I had the enormous pleasure of photographing Amber Tutton, a young fashion and editorial model from Huntingdon. She is such a pleasure to work with and put a virgin fashion/editorial photographer at ease!
Amber was looking for some new images for her portfolio and I was looking at trying out some new ideas and working with adults!
The talented Vivien Jones (makeup artist) who I worked with on my Ice Queen shoot  was the makeup artist for this shoot.
I feel so blessed to have met Vivien, and am thankful for facebook, as this is where we met! She is such a talented creative.

This shoot had been planned to be held in Peterborough town centre, but the heavens opened so we headed back to mine to do hair, makeup and styling.

The sun came out and we headed up to the farm.

Then we got the Doris Designs skirt out, LOVE!

Team :

Model : Amber Tutton
MUA : Vivien Jones
Photographer : Anna Bowkis
Stylist : Anna Bowkis

Had so much fun working with Amber and Vivien. Look out for some studio fun next week with Amber!

Thanks for stopping by. Check this post for details of my March mini sessions :)
