Last night I held the first of my Gallery Open Evening for Anna Bowkis Photography. I was nervous yet excited and hoped with baited breath that someone would actually turn up on the night!

Weeks of planning and with amazing support from the girls and Peter, I had frames, mounted prints a styled set, canapes and sparkling rose all ready for my guests.

The idea behind the evening was for my friends to have an understanding on what Anna Bowkis Photography is all about. Yes I'm a photographer and I take photos, but there is more to just taking the photos. I want my friends and guests to feel  the love and happiness I get when taking photos of their children and families. There is a story behind every photo. I love styling but I don't style every shoot, there are no gimmicks, just a lot of passion and capturing your life and memories.

By 8.30pm the house was filled with 6 lovely ladies, a perfect number for my first evening.
I arranged a slideshow with music to be playing on the TV when everyone arrived and this was a huge success, helped by it being 50" ( first time I wasn't moaning about our large TV, LOL). This really gave my guests a feel of what a portrait would look like in a large scale.

After watching the slideshow and a small talk by myself, guests were encouraged to walk around with their gallery notes to view further images framed and mounted.

In the dining room I mocked up a set with background and mock wooden floor with a selection of vintage props that I love to use on a shoot to show my guests the sort of props I like to use. This was a great talking point as well.

The evening was a great success and I will be holding 2 more in September! Now I was so wrapped up in the evening I didn't take one single photo!
These photos were taken this morning from my set, a little snap shot of last night.... enjoy!

If you would like to attend one of my gallery evenings my next events are Thursday 13th September and Thursday 27th. Please email for details info@annabowkisphotography.com.
